Ultimate Frisbee
In June 2008, a group of friends from Codicote discovered this sport. After a few “chuck-a-bouts”, the enjoyment of playing recreationally soon created a desire to play competitively which resulted in the “Codicote Sex Panthers Ultimate Frisbee”. Training was organized twice a week and in the winter, sports halls were hired around the area, in order to continue playing.
The first tournament proper was in Cambridge over a weekend in October2009 and, a few weeks later, a second competition was won in Liverpool to make it two trophies in two tournaments - a combined total of thirteen out of fourteen wins.
The regular squad consisted of 13 people all from the village, all in their twenties. As hoped, since forming the team, the squad has expanded and now has over 20 regular members. A majority of the additional players to have joined the team in recent times are all girls, and so the team ratio is much less male orientated than at first.
The team plays in a number of tournaments throughout the year, but has now started entering tournaments of a better standard. With the aim to play Frisbee more regularly, one of the CSP team members has organized a mini league between some other Frisbee playing teams in the local area. This indoor league continues on a weekly basis.
