On 29th April the Codicote Parish Council approved the new proposed John Clements Sports and Community Centre in Codicote.
Coming on top of the Sport England £50,000 award under their Inspired Fund and NHDC Planning Permission this leaves the road clear to finalise build costs and ensure all the funds are in place before starting to build
The aim is to do this over the next few weeks.
Details of a “Buy a Brick“fund raising scheme will appear soon giving all villagers the chance to leave their name on the new building and for other contributions to the funding please contact Jim Park at [email protected] or 74 St Albans Road Codicote SG4 8UU . Cheques made out to The John Clements Sports and Community Trust .
The first spade could be in the ground by July and the building complete end year
On 12th April 1976 John Clements was tragically killed while attempting to rescue children trapped in a hotel fire in the skiing resort of Sappada in northern Italy.
