Codicote Parish Council has set up a Steering Committee to help with the John Clements Sports and Community Centre project. The first meeting took place on 4th February 2010
Members of the Steering Committee are:
- Cllr Jane Brown (Chairman)
- Cllr John Warwick
- Cllr Nick Black (also on Sports and Social Club Committee)
- Cllr John Whitbread (also on Sports and Social Club Committee)
- Cllr Bryan Hillan
- Cllr Alex Beazleigh
- Karry Omer (Youth Group)
- Jon Gillard (Chairman, Sports and Social Club)
- Liz Pollard (Headmistress, Codicote Primary School )
- Lorraine Ellis, Secretary and Clerk to the Council
The following modus operandi has been agreed between the Project Team, the Steering Committee and the Parish Council
Project Team
Brian Chapman, Jeff Chapman, Mark Knapper,John West ,Jim Park
Objectives :
- To develop plans, raise sufficient funds and arrange the construction and management of an appropriate replacement to the current Codicote Sports and Social Club.
Steering Committee
Objectives
- To help and monitor the activities of the Project Team
- To ensure good governance standards in the project
- To agree with and provide funding to the Project Team from budgets agreed with the Parish Council
- To provide a formal communication route on the project to the Parish Council
- To put proposals on the project to the Parish Council for their agreement
Parish Council
Appropriate to the objectives of the Project Team and Steering Committee, the Parish Council has the following responsiblities:
- To appoint and monitor the Steering Group and ensure that they are meeting their objectives.
- To agree Project Plans for the Fundraising/Marketing and Construction phases of the new sports club and delegate the monitoring of these to the Steering Committee.
- To agree budgets for the Fundraising and Construction phases of the budgets and delegate the operation of those budgets to the Steering Committee and Project Team
- To agree on the operational Business Plan for the new building
- To agree the structure of the Management Committee to run the new facility.
On 12th April 1976 John Clements was tragically killed while attempting to rescue children trapped in a hotel fire in the skiing resort of Sappada in northern Italy.
